With Buddy at camp, and Bug enjoying the good life with Aunt Onni and us sending Squeaky to Aunt Shari’s for a couple days, Tim and I got to have some time alone…
It was almost like a four letter word…I don’t really want to admit that I enjoyed myself without my kids, but man, was it nice!
After work on Monday Tim and I went out for burgers…it was crazy busy, but for a $4 burger it was nice. And without any kids, it didn’t really matter how busy it was…it was just the two of us. Tuesday morning we got up without an alarm, got ready for the day, picked up Subway and took it to the Arboretum. We were able to walk around and look at what we wanted to look at, for however long we wanted to look at it. There was nobody complaining that they had been to the arboretum 2,000,545,542 times already this summer. Or that the flowers looked the same as they did the last time…
We ate our lunch on a blanket surrounded by a swamp, but it was fun. Then we went home and got ready for work…Tim dropped me off, he went to work, he picked me up 4 hours later (worked a short shift for someone) and we went and had a beer and appetizer for dinner. Something we couldn’t get away with doing if we had kids!
I am not sure how long it has been since Tim and I were truly alone and for no reason. We have gone to the movies, or out to dinner, sure…but to really just be alone together just because we can, was really nice! I think we should get to do it more often! (and yes, we miss the kids the whole time, and we probably talked about them 99.9% of the time…but)
You summed it up pretty good. Nice to know we can still enjoy time together without the kids.
