She misses her mama!

I have been working since the beginning of January…averaging 2 days a week.  Nothing major really.  However, it seems to be taking a toll of Squeaky.  It started Wednesday of this week.  “Mom, do you have to work?”

I think those are the worst words a mom can hear come out out of her 4 year olds mouth!!  Broke my heart, as I know what is coming next.  It wasn’t a question about life and working, it truly was do I  have to work.  Do I have to leave her at “school” all day again this week?   Why can’t we just stay home and play all afternoon?

Yesterday, I thought we dodged it by talking about why she didn’t want to go to “school.”  She only talked about not wanting to sleep there.  Whew!   That was an easy one, “Sweetheart, you don’t HAVE to sleep! You can stay in the other room and play quietly.”

But then this morning I get a call from Squeaky while I was at work…”Mommy, you said you I didn’t have to go to school!”   As I was checking my brain for a conversation that may have lead her to believe that was what I said, I couldn’t find it…so I ventured off of a new path.  We focused on what the weekend would bring and how if Mommy and Daddy don’t work, we have to no money to play!  And that she had to go to school, so that we could work.  She said “Ok” we exchanged “I love you’s” and she hung up.

I talked to Tim a little bit later and he was shocked that that had worked!  He didn’t know what I had told her, only that it worked.

But I do think she needs some extra mommy time.  And I am happy that this is a weekend that I can basically give it to her…yes I have 4 hockey games to attend, but NO housework, NO cooking, NO cleaning!!
