Urbandictionary.com defines Hockey Hair as “long , untamed hair usually capped with a hat with wings of hair flowing and curling up from under it. This hair flows easily out of hockey helmets and is becoming popular throughout hockey players everywhere.”
I had no idea! Though I have had hockey playing friends for last 17 years and a hockey playing son for the two years I am just now hearing this. In the last few weeks I have even been told “just tell the stylist he wants ‘hockey hair’ she will know what to do.” Of course what is funny is 1) My son had long hair before he played hockey and 2) only 2, maybe 3 of the 14 kids on his hockey team actually have “hockey hair.”
Maybe those 2 haven’t gotten the message that hockey hair is out? I have no idea! Or maybe saying that is the Minnesota Nice way of saying “Yo, your kid needs a hair cut!”
