Girly Girl?

Anyone who has met Bug says she is a “Girly Girl.”  I know when she was little she LOVED her princesses, she loved her dollhouse, she loved having teas and she loved the dirt!

I am not sure now as she is growing up what she really is.  She is almost 9, but she still loves her “girly” things and she still loves the dirt!  She is the first outside to catch a frog in the springtime, and the first to say something is gross and just walk away.  She loves the pretty dresses, but hates tights.  Loves her hair to be done, but hates to brush her hair.

This summer when she said she wanted to play flag football, it stopped us in our tracks!  What were we to tell her no?  There was no physical reason to say she couldn’t, she would be playing flag football with boys her own age.  There was no time restraints, if that was the sport she chose for Fall, then it was definitaly doable.   No restrictions put on by Community Ed saying “no girls allowed.”  Hmmm…

We made a deal…if you start, you finish.  And you have to have your hair braided, to hopefully keep her from getting her hair ripped out of her head!

Her first day she was nervous…she got quite a few “you are girl?” stares from the other members of her team.   But all in all, I think she likes it.  I am not sure she will do it next year, but it has been a good learning experience for her.  Her coach is GREAT.  He has been very positive with her.

Looks a lot like what we call “touch rugby” here- rugby without the tackling. I think that’s really cool that she wanted to do that. She looks great too!
