Mornings

They shouldn’t be this hard!  Waking up isn’t even the problem. It is getting the kids actually moving and doing what they SHOULD be doing!  Yesterday I sent Buddy upstairs to brush his teeth.  7 minutes later he was finally coming back downstairs.  “Did you brush your teeth?” I asked.  In my head I was thinking “perfect opportunity to ask him a question, get a positive answer, and be able to have him leave for school feeling good about himself…”  His reply “Ooooh, no.”

Deep breath, Mama!  Seriously, what could he have been doing for the 7 minutes he spent upstairs?   This wasn’t a morning when I had said “throw your dirty clothes down the chute, find some clean socks, brush your hair, brush your teeth, and then find the lost temple of Zimbabwe…”  It was simple, BRUSH….YOUR….TEETH.

Today, I brushed his teeth…which he absolutely hated.

He was eating his cereal this morning, nice and slow, like we all would like to do.  He very casually mentions “bus driver said he would be 3 minutes early today…”  UM, HELLO!!  You normally leave the house at 7:55am…it is now 7:54am.  On a normal day you run to the bus!!  Tim drove him to a bus stop at the end of his route and I haven’t heard back so I am assuming I don’t “get” to play bus driver today.

Tell me again, why are mornings soooo hard??

I agree-I thought it was going to get better, but I guess there is no hope.

  2. Never fear…..some day it will be painfully quiet in the mornings; and you’ll wonder where the time went!
