Cars

To say I hate cars isn’t really true. I guess I just hate the process of picking out a new car. And not necessarily a NEW car, but a new to me car. I don’t like the unknown. I don’t like the cost involved. I don’t like having depend on a piece of equipment that I really know nothing about. And before you go and say take a mechanics class so you feel more comfortable, not gonna happen.

Maybe I just don’t like the process so much because I totally lose my husband from the moment he gets the stupid idea in his head until the sparkling new (to us) car is in our driveway!

There are no intelligent conversations with Tim, no family strolls, no romantic dinners UNTIL the new car has been found! And most of the time it takes weeks!! All I hear about are cars. Oh, and cars! And cars some more.

I think he obsesses more about buying new cars than he has about what to name our kids! In fact, and he really hates that I bring this up, he was BUYING a truck while I was giving birth to our 2nd child! (all over the phone, he WAS actually in the room with me) And I am not sharing that information with you to make you think he is bad a father/husband or doesn’t care. It just shows how he can’t let it go until he has the vehicle he set out to find.

So, now do you understand why I hate cars???

Yes, she hates cars but can’t drive a car older than 3 yrs! My car is 11, almost 12 yrs old and has 220,000 miles on it. I decided to buy a motorcycle instead of a new car, the bike is 1/3 the cost of a new car.
Now, we find out we can store Pat’s boat and occasionally launch it on the lake. the catch is we have no way to tow it. Now I want to get a truck to replace the car I drive and spend about $1000 more than I can sell the car for.
I am obsessed with cars, I fix them myself too. I changed out my first engine in a truck when I was 15 yrs old, I love em. I got my drivers license the day I turned 16, I go for Mortorcycle rides for fun, not because I need to get somewhere. I wax the cars every summer, and take great care of them. Did I mention I love them, and the car I drive now is nothing special, just a oldsmobile grandma car that gets me from a to b!

I am afraid I am with Tim on this one! I grew up with a mechanic dad and worked in the auto industry for nearly 15 years…. if it’s in your blood, it’s in your blood!

Good luck keeping the kids from catching his “obsession”!
